Ithaca Physical Therapy

Ithaca Physical Therapy was founded in 2004 by Jim Tilton to provide individualized care to patients in the Gratiot County area with an emphasis on orthopedic manual physical therapy. The mission of Ithaca Physical Therapy is to provide the finest rehabilitation services through unmatched dedication to customer service, collaboration with other healthcare providers and an innovative one-on-one treatment approach provided directly by a highly trained and experienced therapist.

Ithaca Physical Therapy and Highland Physical Therapy merged in 2024 with the goal of expanding their services and providing excellent physical therapy care to a larger audience.

Joe Baxter - Physical Therapist, Co-Owner

Joe Baxter, Doctor of Physical Therapy, Cert. SMT, Cert. DN

Co-Owner, Physical Therapist

Joe received his Bachelor of Science degree from Alma College majoring in Integrative Physiology and Health Science. He then earned his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Central Michigan University in 2015. Joe utilizes a wide range of treatment techniques including joint and soft tissue manipulation, myofascial release, muscle energy and direct action mobilization. He has completed extensive continuing education and is certified through the American Academy of Manipulative Therapy in spinal manipulation and dry needling for the treatment of neuromusculoskeletal conditions. Outside of work, Joe loves to spend his free time outside or at sporting events with his wife Tori, and their two daughters.

Leslie Skiera - Physical Therapist, Co-Owner

Leslie received her undergraduate degree from Central Michigan University majoring in Recreation and Sport Management. She then went on to complete a Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Central Michigan University in 2015. Leslie completed her final academic internship at Ithaca Physical Therapy and has since received extensive instruction in manual therapy techniques including manipulation, myofascial release, dry needling, muscle energy and direct action mobilization. In her free time, Leslie enjoys being with family and friends, summers in Northern Michigan, traveling, walking the dog and reading.

Mary

Mary Brecht

Physical Therapist Assistant

Mary obtained her degree as a physical therapy assistant from Mid-Michigan College in 2018. Throughout her career, Mary has gained experience working with the geriatric population for the past five years. She looks forward to expanding her knowledge of manual techniques and working with the Gratiot community. Mary enjoys spending time with family and staying active in her free time.

Jim Tilton

Jim Tilton PT, MA, MS, OMPT

Founder of Ithaca Physical Therapy, Physical Therapist

Jim founded Ithaca Physical Therapy in 2004.

He received his undergraduate degree from Central Michigan University. From there he went on to complete a Master’s Degree in both Exercise Science and Physical Therapy in 1997. He then completed a two year post-graduate residency in Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy qualifying him as a specialist in the field. Jim has practiced manual therapy locally in Shepherd, Edmore, Alma and Ithaca, and also treats patients from Lansing, Grand Rapids, Midland and surrounding areas.

Cheryl Jacob

Cheryl Jacob PTA, CMT

Physical Therapist Assistant, Certified Massage Therapist

Cheryl obtained her Bachelor of Science from the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater with a major in Physical Education in 1985. She then went on to Delta Community College where she obtained her Physical Therapist Assistant degree in 1997. She has received training in Craniosacral Therapy and became a Certified Massage Therapist in 2002. Cheryl was previously active in coaching and teaching Physical Education to children. Cheryl has been a part of the Ithaca Physical Therapy team since it began in 2004. She recently earned her Black Belt and continues to train in Jiu Jitsu in Clare.

Office Manager, Billing Specialist

Tracie attended Mid Michigan Community College for Business Administration and Accounting. She was hired by Ithaca Physical Therapy in October 2016 as a billing specialist and also took on the role of office manager in 2022 with the sale of the business. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and crafting.

Madonna has had a truly varied life including many different continued education classes, being a mom of two, a business owner of two small businesses, living coast to coast and in between, and traveling. She joined the Ithaca Physical Therapy team in April 2021.

Blake Mueller - Physical Therapist in Alma, Michigan

Blake Mueller, DPT, Cert. DN, CPRCS

Blake completed his undergraduate degree from Central Michigan University majoring in Health Fitness and Preventive Rehabilitation. He then went on to receive his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Central Michigan in 2015. Through his career, he has worked with a variety of patient populations ranging from acute post-operative care to outpatient sports injuries. He has a special interest in pediatric rehabilitation as well as sport-specific care. Blake’s hobbies include golfing, weight lifting and reading.

Aaron Munderloh - Physical Therapist

Aaron received his Bachelor of Science degree from Alma College majoring in Exercise and Health Science in 1993. He then earned his Master’s in Physical Therapy from the University of Indianapolis in 1995. He went on to complete a two-year post-graduate residency with certification in Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy from the Great Lakes Institute of Manual Therapy in 1999.  In 2006, he was granted Fellowship Status within the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists.  After practicing locally for ten years, Aaron went into private practice and co-founded Highland Physical Therapy in 2005. 

Aaron has been a part-time faculty member within the Integrative Physiology and Health Science Department at Alma College since 1997 and a part-time faculty member within the Department of Physical Therapy at Central Michigan University since 2023 where he works with students in the instruction and skill development of manual therapy principles and treatment techniques for the spine, pelvis, and rib cage. 

Aaron approaches manual therapy treatments from an eclectic viewpoint with treatment techniques including soft tissue mobilization, muscle energy, myofascial release, high-velocity low amplitude thrust, functional technique, and Nordic-based joint mobilization and medical exercise therapy. 

Aaron enjoys spending time with his wife and family outside of work, attempting to stay physically active, and attending high school and collegiate sporting events.
