Manual Therapy

Various hands-on, therapeutic treatment techniques are utilized to promote joint and soft tissue mobility and health. Often following an injury, joints and muscles are restricted in their movement which causes further pain and a reduced capacity to function. Techniques include joint mobilization and manipulation, muscle energy, myofascial release, soft tissue mobilization and manual traction.

Dry Needling

A form of therapy in which sterile, monofilament needles are inserted into Myofascial trigger points (knots in muscles), tendons, ligaments, or near nerves in order to stimulate a healing response. If applicable for your condition, Dry Needling will be utilized as an adjunct to your treatment and recovery. Dry Needling is a modern, science-based intervention for the treatment of pain and dysfunction in musculoskeletal conditions such as neck pain, shoulder impingement, tennis elbow, carpal tunnel syndrome, headaches, knee pain, shin splints, plantar fasciitis, or low back pain. Dry Needling is not acupuncture or Oriental Medicine; that is, it does not have the purpose of altering the flow of energy (“Qi”) along traditional Chinese meridians for the treatment of diseases.

Blood Flow Restriction Training

A cuff is placed at the upper portion of either the arm or leg and is inflated to a particular personalized pressure to temporarily restrict blood flow to that limb. In doing so, the patient is able to complete movement or exercise either without weight or at a low intensity and receive the same strength and endurance benefits as when exercising with heavier loads.

Training with BFR is beneficial following an injury when a painful area is unable to tolerate the stressors of heavier activity as well as following surgery while an area is healing to prevent muscle loss.

Additionally, BFR is beneficial for athletes and lifters looking to gain strength and reduce their likelihood for injury during a recovery week.

Pre and Post Operative Care

Surgeries including total knee replacement, total hip replacement, total shoulder replacement, ACL reconstruction, meniscus repair, labrum repair, rotator cuff repair, Tommy John surgery, internal fixation, neck surgery and back surgery can benefit from physical therapy services before or after the operation. For pre-operative care, the goal of physical therapy is to promote mobility of the surgical joint/tissue and to familiarize the patient with what to expect after surgery. For post-operative care, treatment is performed to reduce pain, improve range of motion and mobility, increase strength and facilitate the return to prior level of function.

Sports Rehabilitation

Physical therapy services can help athletes of all ages return to competition and perform at their optimum level of function. Individualized treatment can help athletes recovering from injury or surgery, suffering from chronic pain and/or who are looking for a competitive edge.

Pediatrics

Interventions are utilized to promote mobility and facilitate function in pediatric patients including those with torticollis, developmental delay, gross motor control impairments, congenital disorders and orthopedic/neuromuscular injuries. Treatment plans are a collaborative effort between the physical therapist, referring providers, parents/caregivers and the patient.

NormaTec Recovery System

NormaTec is a clinically proven method to enhance recovery and reduce pain and soreness, clear metabolites and increase range of motion. The technology can increase circulation and improve mobility for those who work out regularly, are training for a competition, experience swelling from traveling, standing or working long hours, or suffer from inflammation, sore muscles, or other circulatory issues. NormaTec is used extensively in professional athletics and is utilized for both rehab and recovery by 97% of pro teams, as well as Olympic and elite athletes across a broad spectrum of sports.
